Key Consideration for Life Sciences Patent Litigation

A firm with a long-standing client relationship encounters anIP litigation matter that falls outside its capability or finds itself conflicted off a file it would otherwise handle. In either case, the client needs experienced IP litigators. The referring firm needs to know their client is in hands they can trust.
We have built this practice around that referral relationship, and we take it seriously. When a firm refers a client to us, they are staking their own reputation on our work. We understand that, and we conduct ourselves accordingly: the client is handled with the same care the referring firm would provide, kept informed throughout, and returned to their usual counsel when the matter is done.
Our lawyers come from some of Canada’s largest IP practices, which means we are familiar with how major firms think, how they communicate with clients, and what standard of work they expect from counsel they trust with a referral. Transitions are smooth because we have worked in those environments ourselves.
We accept conflict referrals across the full range of our practice. We also work as shadow counsel, working alongside a referring firm’s team to provide IP expertise on a matter they are leading to enhance their own ability to serve their clients.
